Our Philosophy

It is our belief, that travel and tourism has an enormous capacity to provide much needed economic growth within Developing countries. However, we also recognise the fact that it has the potential to inflict irreversible damage on fragile environments and communities.

We aim to reconcile these two conflicting aspects and provide a form of sustainable tourism that is sensitive to destinations, yet still provides a holiday experience of a lifetime.

Our Responsible Travel Policy and the Fair Trade (FTTSA) membership criteria provide more information about how we aim to provide our clients with sustainable travel options.

The BAOBAB philosophy has also been recognised by ResponsibleTravel.com, a web-based travel directory enabling travellers to find a diversity of pre-screened trips and accommodation provided by many of the world's leading tour operators, accommodation owners and grass-roots community projects. All trips and accommodation on their site have met minimum environmental, social and economic criteria to qualify for membership. We are proud that ALL BAOBAB Travel trips have met these criteria.
