Okahirongo Elephant Lodge
PURROS CONSERVANCY, KAOKOLAND – Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is situated in the Kaokoland, often described as one of the last truly wild areas in the North West of Namibia. Charactertized by beautiful mountain landscapes and rugged tranquility, this is the only place in the world where elephant, black rhino and lion live in a desert environment. The lodge is located in the Purros Conservancy, a malaria free area and home to the Himba and Herero tribes of Namibia. The lodge has a Himba style main reception, 2 lounges, 2 dining rooms and a library and can accommodate 18 guests in uniquely decorated cottages. Each cottage has an en-suite bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower and bath.
The menu changes daily, offering a delicious fusion of Italian and African cuisine. Dinner is served in either the dining room, the fire-lit traditional Namibian “boma” under the stars or around the swimming pool. Most of the fresh produce served comes from the lodge’s organic garden.
