Ruaha River Lodge
RUAHA NATIONAL PARK – Ruaha River Lodge occupies a unique and privileged position set around a series of rocky kopjes in a bend of the great Ruaha River. Game is drawn to the river from the neighbouring hills and you can witness the great wildlife dramas unfold from the comfort and protection of your banda. With resident hippos and crocs there is always plenty of action to watch and even some incidents of lion and leopard kills have been seen from the lodge.
Ruaha National Park is the largest in Tanzania and offers fabulous game viewing all year round. With its position in the transvergence zone between the northern and southern hemispheres, Ruaha’s species diversity is phenomenal. For example you can find Roan antelope, Sable antelope, Greater Kudu, Lichtenstein hartebeest here (all rarely found further north) and at the same time find Lesser Kudu and Grant’s gazelle (not common further south), as well as a full range of predators such as Lion, Cheetah, Striped & Spotted hyena, Leopard, Side Striped jackal, Black backed jackal, and good populations of Wild dog.The lodge blends seamlessly into its surroundings with bandas built from natural stone with thatched roofs. All stone bandas have a lounge area with sofa and armchair, coffee table and writing desk. The private verandas offer laid-back game viewing with the occasional visiting elephant. The lodge’s 2 dining and bar areas are at river level and at elevation, serving wholesome food made from the produce of their highland farm. The elevated dining area provides unrivalled panoramic views across the Ruaha River.
