Botswana - Places To Stay
Central Kalahari Area - Edo's Camp is a small, exclisve tented camp situated in the Central Kalahari. The area is home to six of Botswana`s endangered white rhino population, as well as numerous species of plants, birds and mammals, many unique to the region. Also resident are the true indigenous people of Southern Africa, the San Bushmen, who provide a fascinating cultural perspective of traditional life.
The camp itself is set around a rocky watering hole with the tents facing the pan. Accommodation is in spacious luxury tents under a thatched canopy and situated around ancient lead wood trees providing a cool retreat. The tents have en-suite bathrooms and each a private verandah with views across to the waterhole.
Situated in a 120,000 acre private game conservancy in the Central Kalahari area

The wildlife experience at Edo includes ventures on foot to track rhino with a Bushman, game drives in a 4x4 vehicle, night drives and often you don't need to leave camp as the permanent waterhole attracts an endless procession of thirsty animals in the drier months. Other activities include joining the women and children of the Bushmand village in gathering edible roots and plants - a fascinating insight into their traditional life.
A Day-Care Centre for needy children, the `Paolo Zanichelli`s Children`s Home`, is located in the camp`s conservancy. The centre is funded by private donations and by Edo`s Camp`s guests (a percentage of the nightly stay is contributed to the day-care facility).
Young Explorers
The tailor-made Young Explorers programmes are specially designed safaris offering families the opportunity to discover the wonders of the African wilderness together. In the Kalahari, the Young Explorers programmes are based at Edo's Camp, which needs to be booked on an exclusive use basis. The guides at the camp have experience in environmental education for children. All activities are tailored around the children's ages, including nature walks, tracking, bush craft, bird and animal identification as well as cooking. At the end each child is rewarded with a certificate of completion and gift. Please note that these programs are available to children aged 7 and older, although exceptions can be made.
More information and rates are available on request.
