Botswana - Places To Stay
Selinda Concession, Linyanti - This small, luxury tented safari camp is situated on the banks of the eastern Selinda Spillway - a waterway that links Botswana's Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Kwando marshes, rivers and floodplains. In August 2009 the headwaters from the Okavango joined up the Selinda Spillway, connecting the Okavango and Kwando/Linyanti river ecosystems for the first time in nearly 30 years!
The shaded camp is raised a meter or so off the ground and offers extraordinary views over the floodplains, waterways and wide open savannas which are only broken by attractive palm islands. It is these views that are one of Selinda's most compelling features. Guests can enjoy their meals on private verandas with wonderful views of the surrounding floodplains of the Selinda, enjoying the passing wildlife. There is hardly a moment which goes by without animals in front of camp.

Morning, afternoon and night game drives with experienced professional guides in custom-built 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers. Short guided nature walks from camp are encouraged, to introduce guests to some of Africa's less prominent wildlife.
Selinda Camp sponsors or get involved in a variety of research projects from time to time.
Each year they compile detailed notes on the area that covers predation to vegetation types sampling. At present a project is underway to compile a complete plant species catalogue, as well as both a computerised and paper field guide to identify plants in the area. Each month game counts are done and guests are invited to share in this experience if they like. Moonlight waterhole counts and quarterly aerial surveys just increase knowledge and show trends.
In addition the Foundation, which takes donations in camp, sponsors an education program in the towns surrounding Kasane.
Selinda was involved in the establishment of a wildlife society, offering lectures for the children and annually arrange for class leaders from the local schools to visit the area and experience their own indigenous wildlife, to emphasize the unique partnership between people and the wildlife in the area.
All game vehicles are fitted with battery recharge facilities.
A PC is available in the main building for downloading of photos onto CDrom.
