St. Catherine's Monastery, set beneath Mount Sinai, is where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments and the site of the biblical Burning Bush. This area is the roof of the Sinai, where rocky peaks reach over 2500m and even snow falls in winter. In the middle of the desert, St Catherine's Protectorate offers a surprising ecosystem with many freshwater pools and even some streams! Instead of watching sun rise on top of Mt Sinai, which requires the popular midnight climb shared with 100s of tourist, we offer you sunset from the summit.

Depart Dahab at around 07.30 hrs from your hotel with a private transfer to the village of St Katherine's (approx 2 hrs). You will have time to visit St. Catherine's Monastery, now a Greek Orthodox Monastery inhabited by around 20 monks. It is home to 1000s of religious documents, second only to the Vatican. A visit to the museum of Holy Icons inside the great walls is an absolute must.

Following, your guide will take you to the very interesting Visitors Centre of St Katherine with a range of information on the surrounding mountains and plants used for medicinal purposes.

After lunch you will start one of the most beautiful walks around Mt Sinai through Wadi El Arbaein. This path is different from the usual camel path, hidden at the back of the mountain and leading through some gorgeous private gardens famous for their orchards of apricot and pomegranate trees. The walks takes approx 4 hrs with an option to join last part of the path leading to the summit of Mt Moses (2,280 m). From here you can enjoy an impressive sunset before descending. Return to Dahab and back by around 22.00 hrs.
