Kenya - Featured Trips
A walking safari in unspoilt wilderness, escorted by Samburu and Maasai guides and their camels. Two nights (or longer) are spent in the bush in simple mobile camps, with supplies and equipment carried by camels and staffed by the camp team who will look after you throughout the expedition.
The duration of this expedition can be tailored according to guests's expectations.
You will be met in Nanyuki or from Porini Rhino Camp and taken to the start of the safari. The drive is about 2 hours through pretty countryside, hopefully seeing some wildlife along the way. Arrive at Nayasura / Tumaren Camp and after lunch you will head out on a short walk looking for game and getting a feel for the country. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
From Nayasura you will head out early after breakfast and walk north towards Nyarara Camp. Along your walk you will walk across plains as well as mixed bush. Herds of Zebra, Oryx and Grant's gazelle predominate on the large plains with smaller numbers of Jackson's Hartebeest and Thompson's Gazelle. The pack camels and camp team will take a more direct route and set up camp before your arrival. After lunch there is time to relax before taking a late afternoon walk to a scenic spot for sundowners. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Today you will be heading down toward the Ewaso Nyiro River, which runs along the eastern edge of the Laikipia Plateau and then turns eastward toward Samburu National Reserve. Along the way you will be looking for Eland, Steinbuck, Giraffe, Waterbuck, Grevy Zebra and a variety of predators. You will spend the afternoon by the river, swimming and fishing before an evening walk to a sundowner spot overlooking Mt. Kenya. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast you will be driven to Nanyuki in time for your onward flight or stay at Porini Rhino Camp.
