Household chores - including daily water and fire wood collecting, child care and arts & crafts.

Take a walk on the wild side - a nature walk with the herdsman who will teach skills such as spear throwing, shooting a bow and arrow, interpreting tracks and general wildlife & environmental awareness.

Market days - witness their negotiating skills when bartering cattle for house hold items.

Ceremonies - be thrilled attending a wedding, naming, circumcision or graduation ceremony when available.

School visits - witness the enthusiasm of Mpopongi School's teachers and pupils in a class room setting.

The Sacred Forest - enjoy a 1-2 night walking excursion into the Loita Hills' Sacred Forest or undertake a 5 day donkey trekking expedition.

Responsible Travel
Leleshwa Camp is environmentally sensitive and takes responsibility to enhance the environment on a sustainable basis. A large part of that goal is improving the lives of the nearby community. Every guest who stays at Leleshwa Camp is making a direct contribution towards the local community initiatives. Leleshwa Camp is actively involved with the local chiefs, ward councilor and other community leaders to set up a viable Siana Community Conservation Area, which is owned by, and will benefit all members of Siana Group Ranch. All guests staying at Leleshwa Camp pay a community conservation fee as part of their park fee cost - this gets paid into Leleshwa Camp's Community Project Fund (LCCPF). The fund currently supports the Mpopongi Primary School, where they provide books and other equipment as per the current requirements at the school. Plans are underway to construct a new classroom for the school following pledges for further assistance from guests. The fund also sponsors two children through their secondary education by paying school bills and additional expenses. Planning and fundraising for additional future projects are currently underway.

Leleshwa Camp is constructed as an eco-friendly camp.
Garbage disposal - Glass is separated and returned to Nairobi and disposed at Kitengela Glass for recycling and use in their products. Bio-degradable items are placed into a covered 12ft deep pit, which is completely inaccessible to wild animals. Non-degradable items are placed into an enclosed trash store in trash bags. These are returned to Nairobi on a regular basis and disposed of at BINS disposal company.
Drinking Water - Bottled water is purchased in 20 litre containers from a locally based water project which is fully certified. No disposable plastic bottles are used for drinking water in the guest tents or vehicles, reusable bottles are utulized instead.
Cooking & Heating - All food is cooked using gas. Water for use in showers and washing of dishes is heated in kuni boosters over log fires. Wood is collected from trees that have been damaged by elephant from the surrounding areas, and the Kuni boosters are insulated to ensure high efficiency. In addition, charcoal brickets are used as a fuel source. It is planned for the future that solar water heaters can replace the kuni boosters.

Money Issues
Cash in KSh or USD is accepted.
