Malawi - Places To Stay
Liwonde National Park - Mvuu Camp is situated downstream from Mvuu Wilderness Lodge, on the banks of the Shire River. The camp is larger than the more exclusive Wilderness lodge and more suitable for families with even a playground for children. The chalets are a clever mix of stone and canvas specifically designed as family units.
Mvuu Camp offers a wide range of options including camping, self-catering and full board rates, as well as a range of activities. The river safaris are a wonderful way of viewing the exceptionally large hippo pods.
On the banks of the Shire River, Liwonde National Park, Southern Malawi
Mvuu is easily accessible from Lilongwe (approx 4 hrs drive) or Blantyre (approx 3 hrs drive), and a relative short distance from the Southern shore of Lake Malawi (approx 1.5 hrs drive). The lodge can be reached by boat along the Shire River, or by road with a river crossing.

Village visits
Mvuu hosts over 2,000 school children annually from all over Malawi on day visits to Liwonde National Park. These visits encourage a sense of appreciation and responsibility for Malawi's threatened natural heritage. The children are hosted by their staff and taught by their school teachers about the importance of conservation. Often they include a boat trip or game drive in their visits, oftern the children's first glimpse of wildlife in their own country!
