The itinerary above gives you a sample of the type of experience you can expect on the 4 night adventure during the dry season. The park is best explored on foot and by vehicle throughout the dry season from May to mid December. The months of July to September are the coolest and driest months, whilst September and October have some of the better game-viewing out on the floodplains.
The wet season experience on the Explore Gorongosa luxury safaris takes on a completely different look and feel to that of the dry season. Between February and the end of April, the park turns into a real birders paradise. Resembling a giant inland delta, for just a couple of months the waterlogged Urema system is filled with water lilies, water birds, and pretty much anything else that loves the water!
During the wet season walking activities are replaced by canoe safaris along the channels of the watery delta of the Urema floodplains. Your fly camp is a pontoon-based sanctuary in the middle of a floodplain, where you will you literally drift off to sleep onboard your floating tent platform.
