Niassa Reserve - The Moja Safari Wilderness is an exclusive privately managed concession within the vast Niassa National Reserve, Mozambique's largest protected conservation area. The Explore Moja Wilderness Experience is a mobile walking and canoeing safari, providing accommodation in specifically designed mobile tented camps, set up in a new location on a daily basis as the safari moves along the Lugenda River Valley. The emphasis is on the experiene, location and service rather than over the top luxury safari accommodation.

Three different camp sites are used throughout the safari, each one unique and specifically themed according to position, wildlife and guest interests. Accommodation is provided in Classic cottage style mobile tents. All tents are completely bug-proof, with optional additional draped mosquito nets above each bed for extra precaution. Tents can be fitted with twin singles or a double bed, and will also contain a clothes rack, suitcase stand, vanity table and stool and floor rugs. Each tent includes an "en-tent" bathroom of open-air hot canvas bucket-shower, toilet and vanity stand with basins and relevant amenities.

You will be accompanied by a top regional professional guide with local tracker. The camp crew consists of a blend of experienced hosts and local Yao villagers in a small tight-knit 'family' unit (6 camp staff means guest to staff ratio of 1:1)

Niassa is only accessible by light aircraft. The flight time is approximately 1h30 from Pemba and Quirimbas islands, and approximately 1h45 from Lake Niassa (Malawi).
Pemba is an international airport with regular schedule flights to and from Johannesburg (SA Airlink), Maputo (LAM), Dar es Salaam (LAM) and Nairobi (LAM)

Accommodation in custom-designed mobile safari tents, all meals, all available beverages, all activities

Children below the age of 14 years will not be allowed on the mobile safari without prior arrangement and consent from Moja Safari Wilderness. It is preferable that all children above 14 years are accompanied by an adult.

The Niassa Reserve region is one of international ecological importance, and it has attracted observers and researchers from across the globe, all adding to the call to protect this most valuable natural resource. Moja Safari Wilderness is proud to play host to the reserve's resident research team, Keith & Colleen Begg, as well as the various film & media documentaries they are creating to highlight the wonders of this wilderness area. Moja also has a dedicated team of resident and advisory ecologists (both biophysical and social) that assist them in developing and implementing cutting-edge sustainable solutions for the complex relationship between man and the environment.

The Moja Wilderness Camps are ecologically designed and environmentally innovative in their operation with a very low footprint on the surrounding ecology

Moja currently does not have credit card facilities and therefore all extras must be paid either in US dollars or Meticais (the local currency of Mozambique).
