Swellendam, Overberg - Klippe Rivier Country House (FTTSA accredited) is a 5 star property located on the outskirts of the picturesque and historic town of Swellendam. This magnificent Cape Dutch homestead, in a peaceful and tranquil setting, is surrounded by orchards, vineyards and farmlands. Sample the Cape's gracious past in this authentic Cape country house, with it's gleaming Yellowwood floors, beautiful antique pieces and fine paintings. The original waenhuis (wagon house) and stables have been converted into six spacious and luxury bedrooms, with large bathrooms and separate showers. Bedrooms are stylishly decorated; each has been named after a previous owner of Klippe Rivier and decorated to reflect the period of their ownership.

The salt-water swimming pool at Klippe Rivier is the perfect place to cool off after a day out and about. Horse riding through forests, canoeing on the dam and other activities can be arranged. Swellendam offers the interesting Drostdy Museum and the Bontebok National Park are on the outskirts of the town. It is also an easy one-hour drive to Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. Whale watching from June to November at De Hoop Nature Reserve.

Klippe Rivier Country House is FTTSA accredited and the majority of staff members are previously disadvantaged individuals from rural backgrounds, who have since received training and gained secure employment. They have gained confidence and are earning good wages.

One philosophy of Klippe Rivier's is to support small enterprises and buy local whenever possible. Guests are encouraged to visit local art and craft businesses.

Klippe Rivier Country House has installed a wastewater management system and utilises low-volume toilet systems. Waste separation and alien vegetation removal are practiced on its grounds. The establishment has also invested considerably in the preservation of the historic homestead and surrounding buildings.
