Tanzania - Featured Trips
Visit some of the most famous wildlife parks in the world in northern Tanzania, such as the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, offering unrivalled safari experiences in terms of the abundance and diversity of wildlife and the variety of landscapes. The Serengeti is most famous for the annual Wildebeest Migration, but also has large populations of e.g. lion, cheetah, elephant and giraffe. Combine this with an off-the-beaten-track beach & diving destination on the Swahili Coast, Mafia Archipelago, known for its diverse and spectacular natural environment both marine as well as terrestrial.
On arrival in Arusha you will be met by our representative and transferred to your lodge near Arusha. Overnight at Karama Lodge on HB basis
On day 2, you will embark on your lodge based safari in a private 4x4 vehicle with your own driver/guide. On these two days you will visit Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks. Tarangire covers approx 2,600 km2 with a landscape characterised by Baobab trees. It derives its name from the Tarangire River, whose permanent waters ensure a high biodiversity year-round with healthy herds of zebras, wildebeest, hartebeest, gazelle, buffalo and elephant. During the dry season, particularly August - October, Tarangire has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Tanzania. Manyara is a beautiful & peaceful park located on the western shores of the alkaline Lake Manyara. The park is well-known for its tree-climbing lions, as well as its hippos, elephants and rich bird-life. At certain times of the year the lake is host to 1000s of flamingos. Despite being a relatively small park, there is a diversity of vegetation from savannah to acacia woodland, enabling the park to support a variety of wildlife habitats. Overnight at Kirurumu Tented Lodge on FB basis.
Time to head for the legendary Serengeti. Serengeti in Maasai language means ‘endless plain', which is probably the best description for this flat plateau covering a massive area of 14,763 km2. It is probably most famous for the annual Wildebeest Migration, but the park is also well-known for its large populations of lion, cheetah and giraffe, amongst many other abundant species. If you keep your eyes pealed you may even spot an elusive leopard in the trees.
There is time for an optional Serengeti Balloon safari. The trips take off at dawn, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take you. The pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below. The flight lasts about one hour depending on weather conditions. On landing you will celebrate in the traditional manner with champagne and a full English bush breakfast.
Overnight at Ndutu Lodge on FB basis.
Most of the morning the the Serengeti area before starting on your return transfer in the direction of the Ngorongoro Crater. Overnight at Gibb`s Farm Lodge on FB basis.
Early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a spectacular caldera (inward collapsed volcano) with a diameter of 19 km and a depth of 600 m. The landscape combined with the density and diversity of wildlife in the crater is unrivalled. It houses a great number of species, including wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, buffalos, elephants, lions, hippos, a large flock of lesser flamingos and last but not least black rhinos. Please note that the maximum allowed time on a game drive in the Crater is 6 hours followed by a return transfer to Arusha. Overnight at Karama Lodge on HB basis.
