Tanzania - Featured Trips
Would you like to experience real off the beaten track Tanzanian safaris? This itinerary explores the less frequented wildlife areas, including the newly gazetted Saadani National Park on the Indian Ocean Coast. It also includes Mikumi and Ruaha and several road transfers to experience the real Tanzania.
Tanzania has some of the most untouched National Parks in Africa. The number of tourists visiting the reserves in the south of Tanzania is limited and this, together with their remote location, makes them ideal for travellers seeking a sense of isolation, exploration, and discovery.
On arrival in Dar es Salaam you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to Saadani National Park. Located on the Mkwaja coastline, A Tent with a View Safari Lodge offers a peaceful retreat from which to explore Tanzania's only coastal wildlife reserve. Overnight at Tent with a View on FB basis.
Saadani's recent National Park status will bring improved infrastructure, access and anti-poaching activities, as well as the reintroduction of various animal species. Its wildlife population is still limited, but the beach and bush combination is unique. Game drives combining the bush and the beach are all available from the lodge and a boat safari on the Wami river can be organised as part of a full day game drive. The nearby Madete Marine Reserve is a green turtle nesting site. ATWV has started its own turtle hatchery at the lodge to help conserve this endangered species. Overnight at Tent with a View on FB basis.
Today you will transfer by road to Mikumi National Park. Traveling by road gives you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful countryside of southern Tanzania. Overnight at Foxes Safari Camp on FB basis.
Mikumi forms a link in the ecological chain stretching between Selous and the Eastern Arc hills in the north. The main feature is the Mkata River floodplain along with the mountain ranges bordering the park on two sides. The extensive savannah grassland areas attract wildlife from the miombo woodlands covering the surrounding hills. Spend two days in the park on game drives in the morning and afternoon. Overnight at Foxes Safari Camp on FB basis.
Today you will fly to Ruaha, the second largest National Park in Tanzania and one of the wildest, located in the eastern Rift Valley. Transfer to your lodge overlooking the Ruaha River. Overnight at Ruaha River Lodge on FB basis.
The Ruaha River flows along the park's entire border creating spectacular gorges. It protects a wide variety of habitats, including evergreen forest & swamp and contains a huge elephant population. Other wildlife includes lion, leopard, cheetah, hunting dogs, giraffe, buffalo, roan and sable antelope, and many more. Spend two full day in the park on morning and afternoon game drives. Overnight at Ruaha River Lodge on FB basis.
An internal flight will take you back to Dar es Salaam. On arrival you will be met and trasferred to your hotel in the city. Overnight in 4* City Hotel on BB basis.
