Zambia - Featured Trips
Discover the wildlife and landscapes of Zambia's famous South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi National Parks. There is both comfort and wilderness in river locations with magnificent views and an abundance of wildlife. This trip offers you the opportunity to experience some of the best safari destinations in Africa at an affordable price.
This itinerary will take you to some of Africa's wildest landscapes, off-the-beaten track, to enjoy some fabulous natural scenery and wildlife. The safari activities included in this trip have been designed in conjunction with the local people and the community benefits economically from your visit.
On arrival in Lusaka you will be met & greeted by our representative at the airport. You will take a short connecting internal flight to Mfuwe, where you check into Kafuta River Lodge overlooking a game rich floodplain, adjacent to the National Park.
Safari activities in the central area of the South Luangwa on morning and afternoon game drives that finish as a night drive. Cultural village tours are also possible. Afternoons are to relax at the lodge and a chance watch the comings and goings of wildlife at the waterhole directly in front of camp. Overnight at Kafunta River Lodge on FB basis.
Morning, afternoon and night game drives in South Luangwa National Park. Typical day at the lodge starts with 05.15 hrs wake-up call and early morning tea and coffee, toast, cereals and fruits served on the deck. Your morning safari takes place between 06.00-10.00 hrs and on your return to the lodge a buffet brunch is served. Siesta/relaxation time till about 15.30 hrs, when afternoon tea/coffee with cake or biscuits is served. The afternoon/night safari start at around 16.00 hrs and a sundowner stop is made with snacks and drinks before returning to the lodge at about 20.00 hrs. A 4-course dinner is served on the deck outside the lodge, where the floodlights provide fabulous views of the floodplain. Overnight at Kafunta River Lodge on FB basis.
Two days in an authentic safari bush camp located on the banks of the Luangwa River and in the cool shade of a 100 year old Mahogany tree. Deeper into the remoter parts of the park, away from the central Mfuwe area, this setting offers complete solitude and the chance to explore the bush on small and exclusive walking safaris in woodlands and open plains.
Daily guided game walks give you a unique opportunity to experience the sounds and smells of the bush really up close. Although the main activity at the bush camp is walking safaris, there is a safari vehicle to get you into a variety of walking areas and to return from a walk after dark, while discovering some of the nocturnal wildlife in the area.
On you return, dinner, prepared on a wood burning stove is served in the dining area or under the African sky. Overnight at Island Bush Camp on FB basis.
As part of you morning game activity, return to the main lodge. Still time to do an afternoon/night drive and have dinner at the lodge. Overnight at Kafunta River Lodge on FB basis.
Transfer back to Mfuwe airport for an internal flight to Lusaka and onwards to the Lower Zambezi National Park. As you leave Mfuwe there is the option of visiting Tribal Textiles. This is an excellent example of a community business growing to sustain the local economy. The production process makes a fascinating tour option.
On arrival in the Lower Zambezi National Park, you will check into Kasaka River Lodge, set on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River and inside the Chiawa Game Management area. The Lower Zambezi National Park boundary is situated only 20 minutes drive from the lodge.
A variety of safari activities both in the Chiawa GMA and Lower Zambezi NP is available, including game drives, canoeing, river boat safaris, walking, Tyger fish fishing (on catch & release basis), and community visits. A similar daily programme as in the South Luangwa is followed. Overnight at Kasaka River Lodge on FB basis plus house drinks.
You are taken further into the Lower Zambezi away from the Zambezi River to Tsika Island Bushcamp. Tsika Island is an intimate 6 bedded bushcamp located close to the village of Mugurumeno. It is a true community partnership project and combines the canoeing safari experience with authentic cultural interactions. Overnight at Tsika Island Bushcamp on FB basis plus house drinks.
Return to the Royal airstrip for a internal flight back to Lusaka. Here you will be transferred to Eight Reedbuck Boutique Hotel, only 10 mins walk from the Kabulonga Shopping Center. Overnight Eight Reedbuck Boutique Hotel (B&B basis)
Breakfast at Eight Reedbuck, before being transferred to Lusaka Airport in time for your international flight back home.
You can add a 4 Day Livingstone & Victoria Falls package at the start or end of your safari. You can include a variety of activities like a visit to Victoria Falls, Flight of Angels scenic flight, visit Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park, Whitewater Rafting, Livingstone Museum, or visit Mikuni Village. A variety of accommodation options in different price ranges are available in both Livingstone as well as Vic Falls on the Zimbabwe side.
