All chalets are well equipped and have private verandas with fabulous views across the lagoons. The lodge has an outdoor swimming pool in the central bar area and a library. Meals are served by candlelight under the African stars or in the dining area.
Lions and wild dogs have been observed hunting from the bar's veranda and hippo, elephant and buffalo are attracted to the lodge's lagoons. Elephants are known to come into reception during the wild mango season - their favourite food.

"Elephant Migration"
Every year in November, a herd of about 10 elephants visit Mfuwe Lodge. The lodge was unwittingly built on the elephant's path to a wild mango tree, situated next to the library of the lodge. Every year the same herd, led by the matriarch Wonky Tusk, return to the lodge and casually walk up the steps and through the reception of the lodge towards their favorite Mango tree. The elephants visit at least twice a day for about 4 -6 weeks, and guest can observe this rare but magnificent sight from a safe distance within the lodge grounds.
Mfuwe Lodge is best booked in combination with the bushcamps of South Luangwa. Please note that most bushcamps close during the rainy season of November and December, and only Kapamba and Bilimungwe Bushcamps can be booked during this time period.
