Yoga Workshops

You will be based partly in Dahab, practising Yoga overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba, and partly in in the desert, experiencing Yoga in a most inspiring setting. The desert houses some awesome natural plateaus, smoothed and eroded by the wind, seemingly especially for Yoga practice.

Classes based in Dahab will be taught on the roof of Coral Coast Hotel with views across the Red Sea & Saudi Arabia beyond and the Sinai Desert mountains on the other side. All mats, cushions, shawls and blankets are provided.

Every class incorporates every element of yoga; asanas (postures), pranayam (breathing), mudras (hand postures), bhandas (locks), meditation and mantra, and every posture found in other forms of yoga, except the headstand. Because it is so ‘whole’, it works on the whole of you – not just your physical self, but the emotional stuff, your energy levels and your spiritual self! You will leave feeling relaxed, energised and, well, hopefully amazing!

With 2 workshops each day - 2 hrs in the morning and 1 hr early evening - you are free to do as much or as little as you want. It is your holiday – you decide what to do and when!

Wide Canyon Eating together Mount Matamir

On day 5, you will leave Dahab for a couple of days to join the local Bedouins and their camels into the Sinai Desert. Slowing down to the elegant walking pace of the camels you will have ample time to reconnect with nature, yourselves and your innermost aspirations. Within the vast open space of the desert and the crystal clear night skies you will re-kindle your innocence, awe and joy for life.

During your desert dwelling days, you will experience yoga in the most inspiring settings. The desert houses some awesome natural plateaus, smoothed and eroded by the wind, as though perfectly designed for yoga practice.

All meals will be prepared by the Bedouins and served in a traditional style of eating together and helping yourself. The evenings in the desert display a spectacular scene of planets, constellations and shooting stars and will most certainly be an experience you won’t forget.

Sara Campbell has been teaching Kundalini yoga for several years and has transformed her life – from a stressed, hectic, unwell PR consultant in London, also teaching aerobics and running marathons in her spare time, Sara now lives in Dahab, helping her students develop a deeper understanding of themselves through yoga and meditation. For further information on Kundalini yoga please check Radiant Being Yoga.

Local Bedouin

Embah Safaris

Embah Safaris is a unique team with almost 20 years of safari experience within the Sinai area, combining a complete understanding of Western needs with Eastern knowledge and culture. An integral part of their safaris are the traditions of the Bedouin lifestyle with regards to Bedouin tented camps, camel handling, food preparation & bread making, herbal medicine, healing and star gazing.

Over the years, Embah Safaris has built up special relationships with many local Bedouin families and helped them with issues such as medical care, building of animal water troughs, contruction of an eco-lodge run by local Bedouins and employment.

Ethical & Environmental Principles

Many Bedouin families choice to live a traditional desert dwelling life-style. However, in the present day they also need an income, which can be provided through tourism. All BAOBAB Sinai trips help local Bedouins by giving them regular work, either as jeep driver or camel guide, and paying them a fair daily wage.

While based in the desert, special care and attention will be given to issues such as fresh water usuage and waste disposal. Water is a scarce resource in the desert but a necessity for cooking, drinking and washing. Sufficient fresh water will be available at all time, but we ask all people to take great care to avoid wastage. Any waste decays extremely slowly in desert environments and will therefore be burned on a daily basis rather than burried.
