Addo Elephant National Park
If Addo Elephant National Park is not already on your itinerary, it is well worth considering a visit. The park is about 1 hour's drive north of Port Elizabeth on the A335. The gate is open between 07.00 and 19.00 hrs. There is a large café and souvenir shop at the main gate, but there are limited toilet facilities once on the game drive, so it's best to call in before you set off on your drive ;-)

You will see wildlife whilst driving around the park, but you are virtually guaranteed to see large herds of animals (incl. elephants) at the various watering holes. A self-drive safari is perfectly safe and can be an extremely rewarding experience as long as you respect the wildlife. Try and keep at least 50 m away from the animals and never leave your vehicle unless you are in a designated climb out or picnic point.

Prices for self-drive safari in Addo Elephant National Park:
Entrance fee is ZAR80 per person (ticket office accepts both cash & Traveller's Cheques).
