Serengeti - Maasai Mara border crossing closed
Monday, October 26th 2009The Tanzania Tourist Board has dismissed reports that the Sand River/Bologonja border crossing point connecting Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya and Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is open.
Tanzania has no intention of reopening the Sand River / Bologonja border point. The entry point will remain closed for environmental reasons. They feel that the fragile ecosystem of the area, which has a World Heritage Site status, cannot be sacrificed for the purpose of shortening the route between Maasai Mara and Serengeti.
